Rafael Nadal may have retired in 2024, but his dedication to peak performance hasn’t faded. The tennis legend credits one specific daily habit for his incredible longevity. It’s a simple ingredient found in most kitchens.
The one habit he is still practicing is consuming extra virgin olive oil. Rafael is a huge fan of olive oil and openly shared that it’s a consistent thing in his life. According to Majorca Daily Bulletin, Rafael recently shared his dietary regimen with Guía Evooleum.
He states, “Wherever I am, I always look for olives or extra virgin olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil is an essential food for me.”
He further explained that for breakfast, he likes to have a roasted toast with olive oil. Rafael also added that his lunch and dinner incorporate fish or salad, which are “always with a drizzle of extra virgin.”
Nadal called it an “unmovable part of my diet and my way of eating. To be an active player like Nadal, it is important to combine a “balanced diet with sports practice makes you a better person, it makes you feel better.”
And there’s a reason behind Nadal’s affinity for it. According to Harvard Health Publishing, “The health benefits of olive oil have been attributed to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In fact, observational studies have shown a link between lower risks of cardiovascular disease, some cancers, and even dementia in people who consume higher amounts of olive oil than those who use little or none.”
He shared pictures of himself while practicing skiing on Instagram during his Spanish vacation.
He titled the picture “After 26 years… what an incredible feeling to ski again! Thank you, Moncler & Gfisan, for making it even more special!”
Last year at the French Open, the tennis legend said he was practising golf. In fact, in November 2025, he was on the tennis courts with Alexandra Eala at Nadal’s tennis academy, enjoying tennis. He even shared a clip of it titled “One year later, it felt great to be back on a tennis court! It was great to practice with you, Alex Eala! Next time, I will be stronger.”
This shows that even though he left the sport, the sport never left Rafa.
